Miles? any other info. might be helpful as well.. First.. Does it squeal or chirp? Does it squeal/chirp when cold, then go totally away when warming up or at operating temps, and/or is it a constant running noise. Or does it squeal 'just' after a startup? Is the belt dried out/cracks.. Squeaks/rattles ect. are hard to ID at the forum level without sound.. But I'm sure Tim is working on that..
If it only squeals when moving, it's the center drive shaft bearing. The early 2003's had a misalignment in some of the bearings. Mine was replaced some time ago, along with the pinion seal (which the misalignment trashed).
I have a 2003 F250 (build date 12/02) and noticed a squeak earlier this year during the winter. The squeak would show up in the mornings when the truck and the temperature were cold. It wasn't a continuous squeel, but a intermitent squeak that would get faster as I spead up (kind of like a bad wheel bearing or brake that drags a little). The noise would go away after a few miles. I tool it to Ford and they couldn't find anything wrong and, as usual, could not duplicate the noise. Would a bad shaft bearing act this way or would it be a continuous squeel? I bought the truck in June 2003, so it may have been put through the shop for this correction before I purchased it.
a bad center bearing will do just that. Mine would squeal sometimes and then be silent, particularly after driving around and getting warm. The center bearing actually was too short (or tall) and the misalignment caused it to rotate in the carrier. The first time I noticed it was when hunting, and I first thought it was smething wrong with the 4wd. The first time I took it to the shop, they couldn't reproduce the problem. I got the technical service bulletin off this site and took it back, They then replaced everything.

Hi their, i have been working but mine does squeel when it is cold the most but it has done it also when it has been worm it has 22000 mi on it now it is a 2003 i have not had any other problems with it.
Mine has 24,000 miles on it and I have not heard anything since March and I have pulled our travel trailer many times since then. I'll see if the noise comes back whenever it gets cold here in Houston.
Hey Tim, I've been cleaning up from the hurricanes and cutting down all the trees we had broken off during the storms. Francis hit us pretty hard, and we lost power for a few days. Now we are trying to get ready for the next one that is aiming at us this weekend. I do have a big orange "asplundh" truck with a hydraulic pole saw in my yard right now that i borrowed from a buddy who rebuilds and resells them. Even if it's a Chevy, it's still a trip to get up 70 feet in that bucket!!
