351m redline?

What would be a safe redline for a 351m?? 3800rpm? A redline that I could drive at for hours with out doing any damage.... A cautious limit?

Thanks for any replys

Tall order....Are we cruising? Are we running flat out on the salt flats, or roundy-round for four hours at a time? Are we just looking to see how high we should run this old motor so we know what size tires and gears to run?????

If we are talking about a brand new engine the I would venture no more than 4000 for long hauls. If it's old and worn out, then 3500-3800 max sustained. But you need to watch the oil pressure and the temp guage. If it's something that you've built up with forged pistons, tight oil clearances and good rod bolts, then 5000 rpm would be acceptable.

There are a whole lot of variables here. We need better info.
