I have a 1992 Full Size Bronco EB. The other day while I was doing the monthly test and exercise of the TC shift motor the system went dark and left me in FWH. No 4X4 lights, no clicking noises nothing. I removed the motor and gave it a bang or two, tried to test the TC electronic shift module but the self test button was broken. I then metered all the connections and found everything had power, the push buttons work and the system thinks it is in FWL the selector on the TC points to FWH. All this leads me to three questions.
1. I need this back on the road ASAP. Can I remove the motor, shift to manually to TWH and drive it until I get my parts?
2. Will the Hubs disengage after the manual shift to TWH and rolling backward as normal?
yes, you can manually turn the transfer case (with the motor removed ) to 2h and back up and the hubs should unlock and the truck be in 2wd. i would suspect the control module to have problems since you dont hear any clicking noises when pushing buttons.
