Single speed transfer case?

Anybody know how to identify a t-case? I have 67ish f100 4x4 with a 4speed granny first and a single speed transfer case. Are there pros/cons about this one? Should I upgrade to a 205?

We had one ford with a single speed Xfer case on the farm - in truth, it always did whatever we asked of it, but no one liked to use it. The drawback is that you could not ease across something but had to charge right through it.

I guess it depends on how you are going to use it - but if you are going to do any stump pulling or off road through rocks I would change it.

This is the Spicer 21 married transfer case. It has a 1:1 ratio I believe. It's cons are: 1) parts are hard to find. 2) no low range It's pros are: 1) that they are rare and few people have them. 2) Even though it has no low range, most people don't use low range on their 4WD trucks. If you need a low range, swap it for an NP205, it can't be hard. If not, keep it. Personally, I'd love to have a Spicer 21-equipped truck one day.
