I have a '98 Expedition. Couple of days ago driver-side window started to rattle (fully up/down or in-between), then today while lowering window the glass tilted forward about 45 degrees and got hung up. Was able to get glass realigned and fully up.
Question: Best way to remove door panel and tighten window hardware.
All else seems okay (i.e. weather stripping, tightness of closed door, etc.)
Found culprit. There is a screw, washer/nut combo on either side of window track (front/rear) that connects to the window (rise/lower) assembly. Removed interior door panel. Screw, washer/nut combo was missing. Found hardware inside and bottom of door. Retrieved, put hardware back in place, tightened both (front/rear) screw, washer/nut combos and all works fine. Approx. 35 minutes.

On my 98 expy I had the adhesive fail and the window became separated from U-channel bracket. After many calls and estimates ($50-$200) I ended up doing it myself. I went to painters supply and picked up a structural urethane product ($20). Took me 30 minutes and back to normal. Make sure the window is clean where it contacts the u-channel before applying new urethane.(I used dremel with "soft" wire wheel to remove old adhesive).
I had the exact same problem on my '97 Expy, but my only way out was to
pay my friendly Ford dealer $295.00 to fix it ! Sounds like this should have been a recall item.
This just happened to my 97 exp. (driver's side)I even posted how I fix it. On the 97 there are 3 screws to be removed so the panel could slide up and then out. Remove the power window/lock switches. On top inner part of the openning, you will see the screw. Then remove the small plastic panel by the side view mirror (inside the vehicle) and you will see one more screw. Then remove the reflector lens and remove the screw. Now you will be able to lift the panel and pull it out. I used silicone glue I bought at a Walmart . Good luck
