About to Replace Rear Brakes...

I'm about ready to put new pads on the rear of my 1999 F150 (4-wheel discs). The calipers show no sign of leakage and all four pads wore evenly (no sign of a sticking piston), is there any reason to replace the calipers? The rig has 70,000 miles and is in extremely good shape. Thanks

In my limited experience with doing brakes, I have not yet found it necessary to replace the calipers. I had an 85 toy 4x4 pickup with 270,000 miles on it, original calipers, offroaded frequently in sand and mud. Did not need to replace the calipers. My 79 Bronco, original calipers, they work perfectly fine minus the plastic piston which freaks me out when I think about it. To my understanding, calipers only need replacing if you see signs of wear like cracking seals, fluid seapage etc.

No need to replace the calipers unless you are bored and have a wad of money burning a hole in your pocket.

I would reccomend that you bleed the brake system though.
