lately instead of smoking ive been trying to start chewing instead, since i was smoking a pack a day for a couple months, i havent had a cigarette in close to 2 weeks but ive been chewing but i cant seem to do it. every time i put a dip in i get dizzy and eventually feel like im gonna puke, ive tried everything, not swallowing a drop of anything(which means spitting every few seconds, chewing on a full stomach, empty stomach, shortening the time i have the dip in, leaving it in longer, etc. i even bought the new skoal pouches so i couldnt swallow any of the grains, but still doesnt work. so what is it about chew that makes you feel sick? or am i just a wuss? i know it would be best just to quit everything but it frustrates me because i cant chew without feeling sick, its something i feel i need to accomplish.
its kind of embarrassing too because im a redneck cowboy and all.
You're just not used to it is all. As an anology, when people start smoking and inhaling, they cough. Take smaller dips and don't move it around in your mouth so much; you'll be using the empty can/bottle/ground much less.
as i stated in my original post, "i know it would be best just to quit everything"
im 18 years old so i can legally make the decision to smoke or chew on my own, im old enough to know what the side effects can do to me but thats my decision to make if i wanna do it. i just made this post because i wanted to know why it makes me feel the way it does. i dont need any lectures.

Yea Rednecks!
Anyways..
I think your body just aint used to it yet. I dipped and smoked in 3rd grade (im serious) and it never made me sick but everyones different. Some of my friends when they started they would fell buzzed but more sick than anything, but eventually it went away and there fine now. I think its just somethin you gotta get used to which Im sure that you will.
i am 16 and i will get dizzy and sick when i dip i cant stand that stuff and i can chew all day and want get sick or dizzy i personally like the apple blendor redman. why dont you try dipping like the bandits or copenhagen pouches
Try Hawkens. It is very mild and it actually tastes pretty good. It's sort of like a combination of leaf tobacco and can tobacco, because it is coursly cut. I usually chew Cope, but I decided to try Hawkens and I liked it. The only problem with it is that I go through it too quickly. I have cut my chewing down to whenever I am in more stress than usual, because I do not want to make it a habit (I do not have a strong craving for it, although I have been doing it for a few years) and it costs way too much.
I started dipping/chewing in 5th grade (1977) and never got sick. I quit when I started smoking in 9th grade, then I quit smoking (with the help of dip in 1988), then dipped until 1997 when I met my future wife....haven't had a smoke or dip since. I quit cold turkey without looking back and couldn't be happier.
I'm an addictions counsellor and have come across a few people who get sick from chew. Some people get dizzy and sick, others tongues and throats swell up. You could have some sort of allergy to one of the hundreds of ingredients in chew (or a combination of them.)
Just to clarify: spit tobacco is equally addictive as cigarettes and the harmful effects are also equal. When people decide to quit, our research shows 15% of the population can do it cold turkey and 85% need some sort of information, coaching or support.

If you think you're sick now, wait 'till that chaw does it's work.
Just keep dipping and eventually you'll get used to it. I got dizzy and sick when I first dipped but I continued to do it and now I've been dipping for 5 years and I'm only 18. And for "ford390gashog" I'll be the first to admit that both smoking and chewing are nasty bad habits but at least when you're dipping you're not killing the guy next to you like smoking does, you're just killing yourself!
