Ok i have a 1978 Bronco that i am building i have most of my parts and actully have the front lifted but i stopped because we decidec that a D44 just ain't gonna cut it so i have a set of 60's that i am coil springing and is ready to put it in. now is the question we can not seem to answer ....do i make it a full 12" and run 44's or do i stay with my 9" i allready have and run 39.5" boggers will 3" really make it that much more top heavy ( 5.25" with tires ) ..... well what do ya think ? let me know
if you have the full 9"'s from coils just put on a 3" body lift or drop your coil towers down to gain the extra lift. as wide as the 44's are you should be fine with a 12" lift
There is a lot to be said for fender triming and a low center of gravity
I know that I have a LOT more fun with a truck that will not scare the he11 out of me when I side hill. And there are alot less issues to deal with then too. (drive shaft angles, brake lines, ect.)
If U have the 9" lift all set up and working good now, I would stick with it.
well seems that every one has a lil something to say and thank you for your input so far.....
the 44's are 16.5x44x18 TSL's and the others i am thinking about are 39.5x16.5x18 TSL boggers the tires weight almost the same and cost about the same....as far what am i gonna do with 12" of lift is A fit bigger tires and go in the mud ( THAT WAS FOR THE SLOW GUY THAT I GUESS JUST AIN'T UP TO SPEED)
i hate body lifts my self because they let the engine take in more mud and the motor sitting 3" lower then where they do now really sucks! when ya have to fix something .......the D60's are out of a 79 F-250 i think they are 1 1/2 " wider than my 44 (which is under the truck still all the bolts are lose damn zoning will get on us if it is on bricks) this is not gonna be a show buggy all i am trying to figure on is it really safe and worth it for 3"..
check out my gallery thats what the truck is gonna be used for ....Thanks
from what i have gathered and the pics in your gallery a 12" is waaaaay overkill! i could lgo through that in my truck with 4" custom lift and 39.5" IROK's. do just enough to get by then waterproff the rest. trust me this works cause i have real world experience!
I was going to say stick with the 9" lift, and trim your fenders for the 44s. Then I browsed through your gallery and saw several pics with you in mud up to your frame. If your often bogging in mud up to your frame you could use some extra height, so go for the 12".
Well here it is after all the suggestions and a no lose way out i am gonna stick with the 9" for now and go with the 39.5" boggers my buddy said if it ain't enough he'd buy the tires since he will be needing a set soon ....so if it is enough i am done and if not , whats one more weekend of wrenching , like the man said " 39.5"s ya may be stuck 10 behind the guy on 44's, but with the extra height ya may be stuck on ya side next to that other truck"
