hey guys im just wondering if u had the chance to build a turbo 300 what all would u want to do to the head. ive got a deal worked out with the wife that after we get are remodel done i can spend what ever i want on a motor rebuild. well i love my inline and a friend builds them up alot. his last one he done is in a 3000 lbs mavric that runs in the 12s. this is going in to my 92 f150 show truck build up its 4x4 with 39.5s soon to have 44s or 42s with 4.88 gears and 20 inches of lift.hes built alot of 300s also but none that were turboed his last 300 he built ran high 14s in a fox body mustange.so what would your wish list be on a turbo 300 .im not wanting to get real crazy but i want to see what it will run on the strip.and i would like to hook it to the sled to see what she can pull with a new motor in it.
Start with the EFI head for the fast burn chamber. Pay a pro with 4.9 experience to port it for you. Good multi angle valvejob. Don't mill it any more than needed to clean it up, you want it to be as thick as possible to help sealing. Junk the pedestal rockers and have the head machined for either screw in studs and guide plates or use shaft rockers. Have bronze guides and good seals installed. O-ring it so the head gasket doesn't blow. Get all the oil drain back holes chamfered to get the oil out of the head as quickly as possible (there shouldn't be much there anyway). You can also have a teflon coating applied to help oil drainback. I would also have the ports, chambers and valves thermal barrier coated. There's probably more, but it's late and that's as hard as I want to think about it right now.
hey silver this guy is a pro with inlines thats what he Specializes in. he owns his own company building motors. great guy and he will let me pay payments on my motor and it will have a 30,000 mile warrenty with it
You could wait about 6 months. Classic Inlines (used to be Ford Six) may have an aluminum performance head out. They got the completed proto-type for the small block six in time for Falcon Nationals last month. Flow numbers before final polishing were just short of GT40 heads for the 302. Makes me wonder what they will be for our big block sixes.
That's a guess at this point. No projected price has been given to the small block head so far. Considering that it's been in development for over a year and is only now being proto-typed.... I'd plan on more than V8 small block performance heads.
Projected production availability is guessed to be 2-3 months from now. The big block head is supposed to be in CAD stage now with a guess of "holidays" production release.
well hey if u win the jackpot buy me one too. and ill send a thank you card and the dyno sheet after my motors done. also did ford six change there website i know they changed the name. cause its not letting me sign up for some reason
