When you disconnect the batteries for a minute, you will not loose your presets. To wipe that memory, you must have the batteries disconnected for 24 hours.
I can only testify that the method of disconnecting the batteries works. There is also a injector computer and a transmission computer that should be reset at the same time. All have the potential to accumulate corrupted data.

Bob what do you mean by presets? (Serious part of post)
I don't know which would be worse, to have them loose or lose them altogether?
BIG, i think we are driving the same truck. I have the exact same problems you are having like the extreme turbo lag almost enough to get rear ended and my truck sounds like the pilot injection is working when i crank it in the morning. The service people at the ford stealer have driven the truck more than i have. I had an appointment to have the ford engineer look at my problem but hurricane ivan postponed that appointment. If you have any suggestions please let me know. My truck and motor build date are dec 03 also.
