I got the bushing out of the spring but have a couple more issues.
1. the new leaf spring bushing that I have has the metal sleeve around it. It will almost fit into the spring that still has the old metal sleeve in it. It appears to me that when I remove the old outer sleeve from the leafspring that the new bushing will be a little bit smaller than the hole in the leafspring and have play in it. Maybe I have the wrong bushing, it is the one that came with the shackle kit.
2. I got the hanger from Autozone and it the wrong hanger. It is for 3 in. leaf springs and mine are 2.5 in. But the shackle they listed for my Bronco is the right one.It is a Dorman 722-005 and is the only one they (as well as Advance) have listed for my Bronco. It appears that the Dorman 722-003 Hanger may be the correct one. It will be here on Wed. so I will find out then. I will do some research on it tonight and see if it is the right one or not. Any thoughts on why they only list the 3 in for a 1990?
1990 Fullsize Bronco has 3" wide rear leaf spring's.I would see if you can get the polyurthan bushing's which you can put in with your hand's.The rubber one with metal sleeve has to be pressed into spring.
Turns out I was given the wrong shackle. It fit the leaf spring but was too small for the hanger. So I got to get the right shackle and get the the hanger I took back yesterday back and all will be well.
If I get the poly bushings from Energy Suspension does it require the removal of the outer sleeve of the old bushing from the leaf spring? If so is pounding it out the best method or is there an easier way? Or any tips that would help me do it. I am doing this all from under the Bronco.
Yes take that sleeve out!Take a saw's all with a metal blade and cut it out. It's only tin.Take a hammer and a flat chissle and cut it out that way.I use my torch and cut it out.You can bend and pry it out if need be.
while trying to order the poly bushings a question came up. if I had common frame or molded in? I don't know for sure but I assume the common frame is the one with the outer metal sleeve and the molded in ones are the ones without the outer sleeve. Am I correct in my thinking?
I have had to resort to putting the bushing that came with the shackle in. the Boss clamped down on me spending money. being as I can"t spend money on it right now and can't pull the spring out of the truck, is there a way to press the bushing in from under the truck.
