I am planning on getting a F250 CC 4x4 6.0 PSD. I will mainly use it for daily driving, but occassionally I pull a trailer with a car or my tractor (total weight around 6-8,000 pounds). Which gears would be best for this?
Get the tallest gearing you can! If you tow a lot then the low gearing is a good thing but for around town driving and on the HWY the 3:73's will keep the RPM's down and same a good bit on fuel. My CC V10 had 3:73's and towing an 11,000 pound camper was no problem, I could tow in OD to about 65 mph so the 6.0 will have no problem with an 8,000 lb trailer with little frontal area if you have the 3:73's.
You can get the 3.73 in a 250 or 350. The only thing different with the 350 is you can get a 4.10 with the dually. This is prior to the 2005's. The 2005's you can get a 4.10 ro 3.73 with the SRW 350 and I believe you can also get the 205 with 4.10's now.
