Bouncing amp meter
I have a 92 aerostar with the 3L and ac. I find that when it sits there running the amp meter will bounce and the headlights flicker same with dash lights etc. I was told that it was the belt cause it was streched so I replaced it and still have the same problem. Ant suggestions? As soon as you touch the gas the amp meter stops bouncing.

First things first, I would check to make sure that the grounds are good. But, it sure sounds like the problem is the voltage regulator. I had the same thing happen on my '91 Escort and it's currently happening on my '91 Ranger. In the case of the Escort, I replaced the regulator because I happened to have a spare one laying around (doesn't everybody?) and it solved the problem. On my Ranger, I figured I would wait until the problem got worse since it only happens when things are just right at idle. I would try to troubleshoot this rather than just throw money at new parts. And if you do change the regulator, be careful that you don't lose anything in the process. I remember almost losing a spring because I didn't know it was there and I tried to do the job with the alternator still on the car. Fortunately, I found the spring, but next time I would just pull the alternator.
