that is a bummer. Ford wants about $75 bucks for the stupid thing and it is very poorly designed. I'll have to take it out and see how it works. Maybe the switch for a GM car will work.
$75 - Is that US or Can. I paid $60 at a dealer here in Canada for the drivers door which has controls for both windows. It took me all of 5 minutes to change. One screw holding on the outer panel, 4 (or 3) screws holding the switch plate on and the switch just plugs in.

One more note. When you have the door panel off, take some fresh white lithium grease and lubricate the gears, support bars, any part moving the windows up and down. It makes the motor work much more efficent, as well as quietly. Yes, those switches are cheap (as in poor quality. More than once I have wished my Aerostar had the simple, manual window cranks. When you can roll a window up or down on a car that has been sitting in a junkyard for a year with no problems, sometimes simple ideas are better than the convenience of power windows IMHO.
This problem has sort of been fixed. I got a new switch, the price has come down considerably, from $75 down to $38. The parts guy said it was a new number, with a "b" at the end which usually means a redesigned part. The levers looked a good deal sturdier and seem to be made out of a harder plastic. Hopefully it will hold up longer. I had been getting about 40K miles out of a switch.
