Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Just because they are bigger dosen't mean that you can get one that fits your app. But anyways I just wanted to see... I think it would be sweet to have a big six in a pickup.
I saw a mid-nineties Ford with an 8.3 Cummins in it on a website a while back. It looked like it took alot of work to get it in there. This is probably about the largest motor that anyone could fit into a pickup.
Well I just checked Fords market share of diesel trucks and its back up to 60%.
Do you have a link for this info?
I know Fords latest truck sales numbers are 11,000 truck over the GM twins. The numbers have been widening over the last 2 months. The new 150 and new upgraded 250 are the reasons.
I thought those numbers only included the 1/2 tons?
I'm NOT saying that Ford doesn't sell more diesels or 3/4 and 1 ton trucks than anyone else. I believe they do. I'd just like to see the numbers for myself.
No, it's for F-series, including F-150, F-250, F-350, and sometimes every F-series truck their is. I guess if it was just F-150s, then they would say F-150 instead of F-series.
The numbers are from F-150 to to 350. If Im corrrect. Now somebody correct me if Im wrong. I got the market share numbers from a Farm show in my state. Ford had a display with a truck where you walk through and it covered the piowerstroke motor. Ford reps were in there to answer questions. I seen this posted on a display which stated market share. Also stated that 93% of powerstrokes since 1994 were still on the road. Now I cant say this is true. It was a Ford display after all so who noes. I do believe people were waiting for the problems the 6.0 had before buying one. Now with the rebates on the 2004s thismonth to get ready for the 2005s All F series trucks are selling very well. 85,000 in the month of August. One of the best months ever for Ford trucks. With new and updated models this is no surprise. When GM updates there trucks they ll have a pickup in sales as well. Hey I noticed MJD is back online and posting. Long time no see. Hey welcome back nice to have your input.
Great now if I could only find out where Sinister73 went. That guy has completly vanished. Last time posted was in May. I really believe something serious has happened to him. Tried to Email hime and no response. Oh well at least MJD is back. Hopefully several others. Now back to topic.

It does appear that rebates have quite an influene on what people buy - especially if they really don't care about brand. Excellant point.
Here's my thoughts on the Superduty, having been a Chevy Silverado fan for 5 years. I really loved my Chevy, until I had to pull anything at all the Vortec just wouldn't do it. The mileage would drop down to 12-13 and the tranny would heat up. I am a General Contractor here in the Northwest and after 5 years of being laughed off the job when I would pull up with the work trailer I decided to get a F-250 PSD ext. Long bed lariat. Oh my, what a truck. Power is amazing. I love the way it handles. I Like getting around 20mpg instead of the usual 14-15. Things I have noticed right off the bat-
Silverado was very, very fast around town- Superduty not so good.
Silverado had a great looking interior, with all controls pointed to the driver, instead of flat faced like the Ford.
The ford just feels industrial compared to the Silverado. Almost like driving a tractor sometimes. Less creature comforts.
Ford things I love are the fact that everyone looks when they hear you pull up. At a stoplight there is nothing better than that sound ****ing off all the local eco friendly people. It is a big a-- truck and everyone knows you mean business. The fact that the truck will last me a long time. I like knowing that it has been around for so long and there are people that just rave about them after 300,000 miles or more. It hauls around everything I need with ease and looks kick a-- doing it. I dont have to park it around the corner at the lumberyard like I did with the Chevy. It was a little odd being the only 1/2ton Chevy next to all the F-250 and F-350's every morning. I even had one buddy of mine offer to pick up all the materials for the day so I wouldn't strain the Chevy. Ha-Ha , Anyways, just my thoughts, I am a very satisfied owner of the Powerstroke and my only regret is that I did not get one sooner. Take care all
There is only so much testing you can do on a dyno in a lab. The real tests start when the consumers purchase the trucks. Remember the lab is a sterile environment where everything is perfect condtion-wise. The first 6.0 problems were bad injectors, supplied by a third party (not Ford, and not IH). The next hurdle was the crappy code the ford software engineer monkeys put into the computer, they are still hashing that one out.... It's kinda like Windows on a PC... (Windows was never orignally designed to run on a PC (intel based chip), it was a MAC (motorola chip) os. The same thing in the conputer, they should have used the IH computer and saved the headache.

Hey guy you said it all in your post. I hope you have good luck with your truck. I have always been impressed by the classes of trucks Ford has to satisfy everybody. The superduty is a work truck made to work and is desighned as such. Its not meant to be a cadillac or luxury vehicle its a work truck. If you want luxury you get the 150. If youwanta compact get the Ranger. Everybody Ive talked too is impressed with the superduty.Be it a Ford,Dodge or GM fan.l Its hard not to like that truck. Very few trucks on the road today you can say that about. I should say maybe none. I am not knocking GM they have nice trucks with more creature comforts especially in the HD line. But Ford has distinct classes of trucks that aim to please most people.
