So I didn't get a starter with my engine/tranny combo, and haven't done fords before, and I just bought this mini, hi torque starter with the wrong mounting flange.. I can fix that.. hm.. now it makes me wonder, which direction does the starter need to turn? looking at the gear end towards the front of the engine?
Haven't seen this engine run either!!
I 'think' the engine rotates clockwise, the balancer has tick marks to the right of TDC that are 'before'
If that is true, then the flywheel is coming UP at the starter location, and the starter turned 180 degrees must be turning clockwise too, up on the left side of the gear.
When standing infront of the truck looking at the motor it turns clockwise and the starter would be turning counter clockwise.
If I was you I would use a stock starter for that motor.
