Good deal. Thats what i was guessing it was just at to much of an angle.

I have a couple of questions about your truck.
First do you have any tire rubbing?
Second did you cut your front bumper?

Didn't cut the bumper, very very slight rubbing if the tire is turned and I hit a hard bump....nothing major. I could remedy the rubbing if I trimmed just a tad off the sheetmetal at the bottom rear of the front wheel wells but it's not enough to bother me or require the procedure.

What are you gonna replace the 302 with?

Are you gonna swap a ZF-5 in?

If the 302 is not much good...i'm going to replace it with (most likely) a 406 stroker and yes the ZF would go in if that happened.

is the 406 still a 302 block, or is it a 351 block? the reason i ask is because i have a 408 that im bout to drop in mine in the next week or so, and it is based off of the 351, just curious!

The 406 is off a 351. A 351 can go up to 427 i believe.

I might actually get a 392ci....which is a 351 with a 3.85" stroke instead of a 4" stroke, still bored .030" over though. I saw a shortblock of it for $2900.

Well so far I'm trying to pickout what engine I want to buy and am crunching numbers as to what this is going to cost me and what I can afford.

In a perfect world I'd like a 392ci stroker kit w/ forged parts and the sportsman block ($3400) with AFR heads and roller rockers, but no dice on that. Might get the 392ci stroker with non-forged parts for $2895 or just a regular 351 (all of these are shortblocks) rated for 385hp at $1795. It's an $1100 difference between that reg 351 and the cheaper 392ci...so I'm not sure. Everything in this project seems to be "just a couple hundred more" and a lot in return...but those extra couple hundreds add up real fast. I've already spent $1000 on a MAF conversion w/ 75mm meter, 24# injectors, and a 56mm throttle body. My problem is I am also swapping from 5.0 to a 5.8L block so I have to swap the engine and stuff like the flywheel, clutch, balancer etc etc need to be purchased as well.

I knew a guy on the site who was selling it and got it from him. The other stuff was from ebay.

Ok, you guys are long overdue for an update.

I went with a 393 from Coast High performance, it was $2400 with forged pistons, I-beam rods, 3.85 cast crank, ARP rod bolts. I've got a mild cam, hardened pushrods need to be purchased after measurement, FMS 1.72 roller rockers, MSD pro-billet dist, edelbrock intake, GT-40Y heads, HV oil pump, and I think that's about it in describing the engine.

I'm waiting on some gaskets that are suppose to arrive in a few days, once I have those I can assemble the engine to the valvetrain. I need to measure the correct pushrod length, order and recieve those, then install that and put the intake on, and finish the assembly. I've purchased an 89 F-250 with a ZF which will be put into my F-150. The F-150's original M5OD will be put back into the F-250 (so a ZF to M5OD swap on the F-250, and a M5OD to ZF swap on the F-150) so that I could still drive the vehicle (I'll use it as my transportation until my F-150 is done).

My question is this....when I did the work on the F-150, I left the transmission in the truck, and took the engine out. Now that I'm positive the 302 is not going back, I took the M5OD out as well. What I'm wondering, is should I put the 393 and ZF together outside of the truck, then install them together into the vehicle, or should I put the ZF tranny up from underneath the truck, put the motor in, and connect the two units when they're in the vehicle?
