Question fuel delivery probs

i have a 1988 f150 w/302 fi, started having issues when i switched to the rear tank and found it loaded with junk. i bought a new tank, lowpressure sending unit, fuel pump on the side rail, replaced all fuel lines and fuel filter, i am switching from duel tanks to a single, rear, the new one i bought, so everything is new. i removed the resovior on the rail, because i switched from duel to single until i get enough money to replace the second. the pumps worked for about 20 minutes when idle, when i went to drive we started sputtering again and then stalled, after checking the new pumps i found neither the new low pressure in the tank or the new high pressure on the rail will not pump. i hooked the high pressure up to a battery and pumped gas nice, when i put it on the truck, nothing from either, i did not hook up the low pressure to a batery. one last thing, when the high pressure worked, it wound come on then off if i moved the pump around when not on it would go on and off. it sounds electrical. i'm at my witts end and getting ready to go to a dealer. all oppinions are most welcomed, thanks for any help. ps i survived francis in manatee.
