I have an 1987 F-150 302EFI. It has been stalling on me over the past week. I went to start it last night, it started, then died. Tried to restart and when I turned the key on I listened for the fuel pump whine several times on each tank and heard nothing. The 1987 has duel tanks, with low pressure pumps in the tanks and a high pressure pump on the frame rail I believe. I was gonna replace the high pressure pump, but I want to be sure it is the problem. Any advise?
No, I have not tried that, because I don't know how to deal with any electrical stuff, I currently have a call in to my personal mechanic for suggestions before spending the $$$. Thanks for some direction though.
I have an 86 F150 that has been experiencing the same problems. It got to the point where I had to listen to the whine of the fuel pump before turning the engine over. I have replaced the High preasure pump many times and still seam to end up with the re-occuring problem. Is there an online schematic of the fuel system and the corresponding electrical parts?
