I'm quite new in this subject and I would like your advise:
I live in Monterrey Mexico (2 hours from the border) and I have a Ford Ranger 2000. I have not serious problems with it, but I'm interested in buying a OBDII Code Reader. I have been taking a look at the Forums and I have an idea of some of the brands used at the US.
I have just located a product here in Mexico with the brand "injectoclean". Have you heard something about this tool? I have searched for a while and I found they have a site. The address is the following:
As I told you before, I would like your advise in this matter to see if I wait for a while and buy one in my first trip to the US or I just buy the one that they are offering me here. I have to review costs (including the importation taxes) and benefits (warranties, service and all that), and your advise we'll be very helpful (specially if you have ever heard something bad on this equipment)
I've not heard of Injectoclean, but I looked through the products that they offer and the OBD-II Code Readers seem to be very similar to all the other OBD-II Code Readers I have seen here in the US that are in the same class (i.e., consumer grade) and can be found at most parts stores or on the internet. And it looks like they are a legit company with an array of useful products.
So if the price is right, I's say go for it, but you might want to consider what kind of warranty comes with it, too. And make sure you get the one that is for Ford OBD-II vehicles.
Thank you for your comments. I'll take care of the warranty they offer, see aroundo some other options and make a decision.
Fortunately I'm not in a hurry now... but I have to be prepared before it's needed.
I got a catalog today from Harborfreight Tools showing a Creader scan tool on sale for $39.99 US. Take a look at it at harborfreight.com. Use keyword "universal code reader". I'm very pleased with my Creader; so far I've used it on Ford, Buick and Mercury vehicles and it found the trouble codes and reset the "Check Engine" light. I'm not sure you can find one any cheaper unless it's a used one on eBay Auction.
