Hi all -
We recently got a 1993 AWD Aerostar. I really love it, so far !
One little problem --
The owners manual tells about an emergency cut-off switch for the fuel pump, in case of a collision. We cannot find the reset button for this switch! We looked all around the drivers compartment, up underneath the glove box, panels, etc, even under the hood. The manual seems to say it should be on the passenger side, up under the dash somewhere.
Does this switch really exist??? If so, does anybody know how to find it? We would like to know, in case it ever activates.
This may be a dumb question, but how do we get to it, if it is behind the kick panel? Is it hard to get at?
The book said it could be triggered even by hitting a hard pothole.
I can just picture getting stuck someplace because the fuel pump got shut off !
The switch is not really behind the panel. You can see it on the right side of the passenger's side, near the door. It has a red button.
I once triggered it on purpose in order to release fuel system pressure before changing the filter. It really needs a hard push and I cannot imagine a pothole will do that.
