Could anyone help me with these casting #'s. A guy is trying to sell me this engine that he thinks is a 406 FE, I had a look at it, and it sure doesn't look like an FE to me.
Engine B9ME-6013
Intake EDG-9425-A
Exh B9ME 9437A
I'm almost positive its not a 406 b/c these #'s indicate a 1959 build date and I think the 406 was only produced in 62-63.
Its not a 406. Does anybody know when the 410 was introduced? I think you are looking at either a 332 or 352. Most likely a 332 and possibly not an FE.

410 FE=`66. 410 MEL=`58
With the "M" in the casting #, would that not be a Mercury (MEL) engine? 383,410,430.

That would mean it was a Merc engine, but I don't think that means much since the 390 in my Galaxie has a C6ME casting number. Confusing stuff I tell ya I guess a good start would be figuring out if its even an FE.
I'm thinking that its a 410 mel, ive done some research on them, but I'd like to see a picture of one and find somewhere to run the casting #'s. I never knew that line of engines existed, are they rare? Worth anything? The engine in question has a funky high rise looking intake(cast iron)
Before you get too wound up, check with a senior engine builder about the MELs. There's something about them, which I can't remember right now, like boring proceedures, that are really complicated.
If you do a bunch of reading on the network 54 forum, you'll find that there used to be alot of hipo parts for the MELs.
