Could anyone help me with these casting #'s. A guy is trying to sell me this engine that he thinks is a 406 FE, I had a look at it, and it sure doesn't look like an FE to me.
Engine B9ME-6013
Intake EDG-9425-A
Exh B9ME 9437A
I'm almost positive its not a 406 b/c these #'s indicate a 1959 build date and I think the 406 was only produced in 62-63.

The only Ford V8around in 1959 was a Yblock. either lincoln or ford yblock, and no 409. Now on those numbers, i would consult ford motor comany on that.....Janet
It,s most likely a 332 or 352 FE as they came out in 1958

Hotwrench, i can always be corrected, but i don't think a 352 FE existed until 1960, and the 332 was a lincoln Yblock...Im just debating is all, not arguing....Janet
In 1958 you could get a FE in cars it was either a 332 or 352 I had a 58 that my father bought new . It had a 352 INTERCEPTOR in it with solid lifters a four barrel @ dual exh, had 3spd with overdrive VERY FAST CAR in its day

If it is an FE, I believe most of them had a352 cast into the block, even if the block was other than a 352. You may want to post in the FE forum and let those folks tell you exactly what you got
hi; if it has a center head it's an FE, but if it has a seperate intake manifold then it's probably a MEL engine, 383-430 mercury or a 410 edsel, wayne.
