I have been a Honda (hope this is not a dirty word here) owner for almost 10 years now and very happy. Since Honda does not make a pickup, I have to look elsewhere now. I plan to buy early spring '05. My choices are 4X2 extended type cab (not crew) with V8: Ford XLT F150 4.6L or 5.4L; Nissan Titan; Toyota Tundra SR5 with V8 option. Can you give me unbiased guidance?
Seriously, I really don't know how to answer this. Obviously, we're a little biased here towards Ford. Read the car magazines, and they all have their own favorites; one says the Tundra, another chooses the Titan as the best, and yet another says the F-150. Hey, at least you aren't considering a GM or Dodge! As much as we all here want to see you in a F150, I think your best bet is to rent each one of these trucks for several days, really live with each one, and then decide. I've always said, a little 2-mile test drive is not enough to adequately judge a vehicle to see if it's right for you. Hey, that's as unbiased as we get!
Go to Titantalk.com and spend 5 minutes reading thread after thread and post after post about Titan owners' problems. I almost bought one until I cruised that site. It's story after story of poor quality and repugnant dealer and manufacturer service. It was supposed to be a site of happy Titan owners sharing experiences and instead it has become a pit of complaint quicksand. Ten minutes there could save you a $38,000 headache. I'd bet Nissan would pay millions to have that site self destruct.
