Honda Ridgeline

I just saw a add for the Honda Ridgeline. What do you think about it?
Honda Ridgeline
On first glance the big thing I notice is that it's too small. The bed is 5' x 4'. What are all your guys opinions on this truck?

I saw one on the lot last week, and I must say- BFU! I can see only the most deluded of honda devotee's actually buying one of these. Maybe a special Mary Kay pink edition would move a few of the lots.

Just my observation, with nothing more or less implied: the folks I see driving Hondas, generally don't drive pickups. The 5' x 4' bed is probably plenty big for them 'cause I seriously doubt you'll see a sheet of plywood, a stack of 2x4s, or someone's furniture being hauled in one anyway.

That's what old Fords are for.

I think it's good competition for other quad cab compact trucks and the Sport Trac. It's not so hot if you want a truck but for somebody who needs a small box on the back but wants more carlike ride and handling it seems well suited. It also seems to be something the typical Honda fan would be interested in if they want a truck.

I saw one going down the road the other day and i just think they are ugly. They look like mini Avalanche. I haven't really paid attention to this in pictures or anything, but it looked like it has a one piece body meaning the bed and cab part are not separated like a normal vehicle. How would that work if they had an accident and needed to replace the rear quarter panel?

I think it will sell because it has one thing that none of the other manufacturers have in their small trucks: Front wheel drive!

My dad is one of the strong following that will not EVER own anything that's not a front driver. Personally, nobody will ever convince me that FWD is superior, but there are those that believe that. I think just because of that, combined with honda reliability, it will sell just fine.

And what's the problem with that? This means more competition for Ford, which gets US a better product, for less!

I think it looks like a mini Avalanche too!

I believe front-wheel-drive is superior in "traction-challenged" situations. My 99 Taurus wagon goes fine in pretty slippery/snowy conditions - better (I believe) than a rear-wheel drive car without studded snow tires and extra weight in the trunk. Just my .02.

I'll second 78. We get more ice than snow here, and front-wheel-drive cars are more sure-footed than RWD--something about having the weight, drive, and steering on the same axle, that front end will pull you through most anything unless the snow is just too deep, which does not happen often here. About the only time I ever found my old 4x4s better was in deep snow, and that was mostly for ground clearance, not traction.

I just can't believe that HONDA tries to call that a truck. Unfortunatly I think they will sell up in my neck of the woods too. If you don't have 4 Wheel drive Fwd is the next best thing to have, and with all the soccer moms up here I have a feeling we'll start seeing em on the road.

It's not a matter of "Think" it will sell...
they are selling FASTER than they can be delivered !!!

most dealers can't even keep a demo on the lot....

Not a real truck. Its AWD that runs primarily in FWD and activates the rear when slipage is detected. FWD is ok in a car, but not on a truck with a bed. I'm not really big on FWD SUVs either. The trunk thing seems like it might be pretty handy. I'm sure the most work that these will see is Earl May trips for some sod or fertilizer. Honda sure knows how to make an ugly vehicle. Between this and the Element, I think the Aztec has been replaced as ugliest vehicle on the road.

Looks like uni-body junk to me, not ideal for a pickup truck, and it has killer 5000lb towing capacity ...dont go overboard or anything honda.

I wouldnt even classify that thing as a truck. Its a half a**ed SUV/Avalanche

would never buy anything with a motor that has a V-Tech badge on it, let alone a big "H" on the grill.

It seems that people want a truck but dont want a truck. You see more and more of these sorry excuse for a truck. The ridgeline, ford's sport trac, subaru thing, avalanche, escolade, and titan crew cab and a 5 ft bed????? and more I am sure. I dont know what to make of all these things......they sell, that's for sure. Give the manufactures credit for finding a "new" truck market. They all can have their car ride with a bed in the back. I will stick with my Super Duty. I get a kick out of pulling next to these things at stop lights. There are times I catch the driver checking out my "real truck". I look over and snicker at his and more likely than not hers.

Oh well to each his own.
