Honda has a Formula 1 V10 that makes over 900 Hp and it is a 3.0 L motor.
Likes to rev too , she can spin at over 18500 RPM.. I just got a copy of the new Honda magazine because I own an 02 Honda Accord I bought new 3 years ago. It has been absolutely terrific. The magazine is facinating.
Soichero Honda started the company in 1946 in a shed building bicycle motors . Today , Honda is the largest engine manufacturer in the world.
Unbelievable and here is one of his quotes from the magazine" I've never refused competitors' visits to our factory. I've welcomed them at any time- because I am willing to jump to new innovations when they try to follow us."
This is Mr Honda himself saying this and now in Alliston , Ontario Canada we have a 2 billion Honda investment in 2 new plants making 390,000 quality vehicles a year and employeeing 4300 people. These people are Canadians making a decent wage and Daimler Chrysler should hang their head in shame over their Mexican factories that pay less than a fruit picker in California. Ford better watch the Honda move into the truck market very carefully because in about 5 years Honda might have a heavy duty pickup out there that will out class our beloved SD. Wrenchtraveller.

Honda is, and has always been a great company. I don't care for their cars, but just because I'm 6' 5", no other reason. That V-10 Formula 1 engine, along with Ferrari's, BMW's, etc is AWESOME. It's so top secret, hush, hush but I got a little bit of an inside peek at the BMW engine a while ago, it was stunning. I think next year you'll see 2.5 liter V-8's in F1, since they went to 3.0 from 3.5 V-10's and it still didn't slow the cars down. 900 hp, 250 ft lbs of torque, 18,500 RPM !!! That's double motorcycle revs, and bikes have roller bearing cranks and pressed together cranks. That's 2040 hp in our V-10's equivalent, 3.0 liter to 6.8 liter. Honda has always though that treating employees well increased contentment, and therefore production, maybe the US companies could learn something. Henry Ford never could beat Enzo at Le Mans until he figured out the Ferrari's were built around the driver, and making the driver comfortable made for the fastest lap times.
I drive buy this car everyday. It is a awsome looking car. Granted it's a porsche and costs, GET THIS, $433,000 it is a very limited edition carerra GT. It is a 5.7L V10 605HP. I did stop to look at it. AWESOME. The sales guy gave me a pamphlet with some numbers on it. 0-60 4.9 sec and the one that made me choke. 0-120 9.9 sec. 120MPH in 10 seconds. what the hell!
If you follow some links on that site to porsche's site you can hear some sound clips. Spine tingling to say the least.
Too bad Honda cant get their F1 engine to do more then 3 laps! Last year most were turning more than 19k, but due to new regs the engines need to last 2 gp weekends so they arent turning as many r's. BTW boxcar check those numbers on the Porsche Carrera GT, 0-60 is sub 4 seconds. 3.6 to 3.8 seconds!

The Carrera GT was originally a LeMans prototype for 2001 that Porsche pulled the plug on. After Porsche/Audi/VW/Bentley decided Porsche needed a halo car, like the Ford GT and the Ferrari Enzo, it was developed into a street car. But some things don't translate well from track to street, like the very small ceramic clutch. The slipping of said clutch is almost impossible so take offs are interesting.
Thats why those people well never make a better truck, then the USA
All that HP and no torque, why would you even want one for heaven sakes.
unhappy with the economy
buy American.
I don't get the point of revving it that high... because they can squeeze out a few more foot-pounds?
They have to, the FIA dictates engine size, which now is 3.0 liters and V-10. Formula 1 is the most cost per cubic inch of race car in the world. Next year there's talk of going to 2.5 liter V8's, which will be interesting. But, traction control, anti lock brakes, in car telemetry, all that cool stuff is F-1. These engines are incredible to hear, incredible in the engineering, the cars weigh less than a thousand pounds. O-100 in 3 seconds, 60-0 in less than 75 feet, we're talking about incredible stats. But no way you could drive one anywhere but around an F-1 circuit. There is no start but plant your foot on the gas pedal, and hit the gearshift toggle when the lights go off and hope your traction control software is better set up than everyone else's.

Thanks for the reply V-10 runner but the V10 is built in Canada and so is the frame on the SD. All your wiring harnesses are assembled in Mexico with people making fruit picker wages. There is no such thing as buy American anymore and its called a global economy. I work in a paper mill but the good old USA is our biggest customer and we all would like to think nobody can build a better machine than us North Americans but I think we would have to have our heads very far up our *** to really believe it. Take care, Wrenchtraveller.

Paper mill, Vancouver Island, let's see ? I'll bet I do business with you indirectly. Ken
Ken, I work for Norske Canada at Crofton. Norske has 3 mills on the Island and one at Powell River. We are a large directory paper manufacturer as well as Newsprint and printing papers. It is a tough business to be in these days and the newprint market is shrinking. We must use a certain amount of recycled paper to keep our California customers and we also heve 2 pulp machines which have come very closed to being shut down but are looking pretty good right now. We send a lot of stuff to the States for repairs and one of our machines somewhere is going to be going light weight coated where the big money is. That's the glossy pin-up paper and it is an upgrade that will take millions and millions of capital so I hope our mill gets it. The Island has seen so many mills struggle and close down permanently so its sure nice to see new construction happening. PM me if you want to talk more about this. , Take care, Wrenchtraveller.

I'm in the other side of the business, the lumber, but I do alot of business with BC manufacturers. I love Vancouver Island, there is nothing more beautiful than Victoria IMHO. The business is definitely changing though, so many mills gone, so sad. Large corporations now run 80% of this business, all the smaller mills in BC, the plains, the maritimes are gone, sucked up by big companies like Canfor, Tolko, Tembec and Abitibi.
Ken , I am 40 minutes from Victoria and yes it is definately one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I love travelling in the states and we love the Oregon coast. Sawmills are another tough business but a lot of them are not doing too badly right now. A big controversy is the amount of raw logs we are shipping to the US but that is a political hot potato and I won't go there. Then we have our millionaire celebrities building multi million dollar homes on our waterfront and gulf Islands and they want industry shut down period. We are always under the gun with environmental issues and even when we were shut down 7 years ago over a 9 month strike, the whiners were phoning the mill complaining about the mill emmisions. They were'nt quite sure what to say when they were told "we been down for 6 months" Take care, Wrench.
