i read in one of your other post that you swapped the duraspark ignition in you I-6. is that changing just the distibutor or do you need te whole ignition module? and what year trucks did they put those on? did you use the same carb? even with all the electric adjustment junk on it?
Duraspark swap requires the distributor, module & wiring harness. You also need a spot for a vacuum connection. Duraspark was popular from about '76 to '84 it was used on most Ford cars and trucks.
sorry for taking so long... I guess I have not checked this forum for a bit.
I had to get:
distrubutor
Differnt coil(not absolutely nessasary, old one will work)
The electronic box
wiring harness... vee eight will work... .make sure its the same hookups, as they changed them through the years, oh and make sure it has a resistor.
Oh, and also you have to use the tep gage wire on the new harness, and the oil preasure wire also needs to go to the new wires. Even with the old gage wires conected to them, they don't work... don't know why lol.
I used the same carb, and it seems to work ok, but soon will be swaping this in :
Yeah.... Hopefully after harvest here I will get the thing together and working. I have efi manifolds on the way... and plan on some head work... not sure how much.... see what the shop thinks. Not going with bigger valves, thats for sure.
