I recently bought a 200 watt, 2 channel amp. for my 1997 Ford F-150 to push my 2-8 in. subs. The amp. worked the first day and the second day the amp. power indicator shows the amp. is recieving power but not getting any sound out of it. Please help. P.S. The amp. is a VR3
Everyone else's advice is worth follow-up, but I'd suggest you also inspect the ground point for the amp. Sometimes you can secure a ground that will work OK but quickly give out.
Internal fuses for the amp are worth looking at, too...if one's blown, you need to ease back on the volume controls.

Good point. Amplifiers can require as healthy a ground as a Ford starter.
a lot of times it's easy for the remote to come unplugged, also it may sound weird but i overlook it all the time, check your RCA plugs, and check your ground and make sure the site where it is grounded at is clean, and also check your head unit, it all seems simple but can be overlooked easily

Can't be the ground: If you don't have a ground, then your power LED won't come on because there's no complete circuit to supply the power.
Probably isn't the remote turn on: If your remote turn on isn't on, most amps (all I've ever seen) won't have an LED on. The LED only comes on when it has power from the battery AND the remote turn on.
the LED turns on when RCA cables are connected and the receiver is on, i can unplug my ground, power and remote turn on, and still have LED with the RCA cables, i know it happens bc i was freaked out whenever i was unhooking everything with the radio on and the LED stayed on, and then i unplugged RCA's and it turned off

Well . . . maybe. Sometimes a compromised ground will transmit 12 volts but will fail when trying to transmit watts / amps of any measure. That's been my experience, anyway.
Submitted with respect . . .

Wow, I've never seen that before...
That makes troubleshooting a beeotch!
Actually troubleshooting this problem is not that bad when I installed my amp I didn't get all the paint off the chassis where I connected the ground and had the same thing going on. What I found is that after the amp went into protection mode I cheked the voltage across the main power terminals of the amp with a volt meter and found three volts but it was slowly climbing when it got back to 12 I could shut it off and turn it back on and it would work for a bit. That being said the easiest way is just to be sure there is no paint or anything interfering with a good ground.
