What brands of 6.5" speakers is everyone using? In my 89, the stock were 5.25, I bought some cheap 6.5's, but they wouldn't fit in the hole. I guess it needs to be a shallow framed speaker. I m just looking for cheap speakers that can be heard over my exhaust and traffic noise, not audiophile quaility.
Alpine in my truck, MTX in her car, Boston Acoustic in the Jeep. All work well with head unit power. A little dynamat could go a long way with the road noise.
cheap road noise reducer go to lowes find 6" aluminum backed roof seal flashing about 15 bucks covers alot of space it sticks and stays worked on my ranger though summer and winters
Audiobahn. Highest dB level for your buck. Go to Lowes/Homedepot and look for Peel n seal (its a roofing material) has same aluminum and rubber layers as dynamat xtreme. makes a huge difference.
Peel n seal (its a roofing material) has same aluminum and rubber layers as dynamat xtreme.
Actually, Dynamat Xtreme is an iso-butyl composite while Peal n Seal is "rubberized" asphalt.
Before deciding to use Peel and Seal or any other similar roofing material as a cheap alternative, check out this thread...
Kontai-
Butyl:A synthetic rubber prepared by co-polymerization of isobutylene with a small amount of isoprene (both ingredients are gaseous hydrocarbons).
Now I wasted hours of my time researching the differences between dynamat, dynamat extreme, fatmat, brown bread and so on.
The reason I finally decided to go with peel n seal is that for 90 cents per square foot I get the same 40mils of rubber and aluminum that dynamat provides for $5 per square foot. The only difference being the asphalt based adhesive. With proper application = no problems.
