Transmission problems, 2003 E150
transmission went out. Ford replaced it. At 10,000 miles it went out
again. The mechanics tell me that the transmission was overheated. Ford maintains that the truck was overloaded, and that I shold have not installed a small helper spring on one side -- and "they won't replace it again".
(Please note, I have used E150's for the past 30 years with the same load and never had a transmission problem -- I wonder if they may have downgraded the the transmission on this truck.)
They have not weighed it, but It may be a couple of 100 pounds overloaded.
Again, need some advice -- assuming, after arbitration, and Ford still won't replace the transmission -- can you give me suggestions about extra cooling or installing a stronger transmission?
FTE is a very large site and the forums are very busy. To keep things running smoothly we have it split into various section for different topics. This section is for user introductions. There's a van section and a transmission section that would be appropriate for your topic.
Thanks!
