My friend has a '92, 4.0 litre and his headlights will not turn off. He's getting tried of using the battery cable technique -- any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
I don't know if they fixed it. But my '94 did that and it was the daytime running lights module at fault. The lights on all the time. Went to feel the module and was red hot, its beside the battery, screwed to the side of the fender.
I'm a new user of FTE and I have a question about the "Daytime running lights.
They won't go off when the engine is shut off and also my dimmer switch no longer seems to be working. This problem previously appeared when the weather turned wet but it was just the running lights staying on. I understand that the Running Light Module is mounted in the left fender by the battery. I assume it is the device with the cooling fins. Can you confirm.
Also, where can I lay hands to a schematic diagram of the electrical system. I can find schematics for the radio, door locks and pwr windows etc but none of the main electrical system.
Are you talking about the dimmer for the instrument panel? It has a thermal fuse that can blow if you use it too much, like leaving it close to full brightness. I've bypassed mine, and just don't use it much anymore.
Canadian Aero versions came with headlights on whenever engine on feature
never looked at one in the wiring flesh.
probably require a Ford Svc CD of ebay canada to troubleshoot effectively.
we used to have several canadian members with the day headlights feature and occasional problems, maybe one will show up and catch the thread
the DRL module is on the driver side inner fender panel forward of the starter relay solenoid.
