my 79 ford f250 4x4 i just am putting back together almost done. i had it running then i shut it off, put anti-freeze in it then it wouldn't even turn over. i replaced the sylenoid, battery. and i think my ignition box it might be on the drivers side started ewwsing like a clear sticky and soft stuff out of it. would that mean i should replace that or what. my starter isn't even turning over.
thanks ahead of time
check the solonoid by taking a wire from the battery side and toutching the one with the S on it. it should click and crank over. after that you need to start working your way back up the wiring harness. and about that box, keep an eye on it so it dosent get hot and light on fire.
Maybe voltage regulator..maybe you should run a block to body ground wire...check relay probes with test light with key in on, and crank position, make sure you are getting spark. Make sure all wires are connected just incase. Good luck
ya i second that motion. GROUND!!! allways check and double check your ground wires. they will cause a giant headache. been there done that. clean your connections and make shure you have one to the block and frame.
thanks for the help guys. i got it runnin now. no it will be a badass truck after the paint job i'm just getting ready to put the finishing touches up on my frame off restoration. been a year and a half in the making.
