Leaf to Coil Swap
Anyone ever swap their front leaf springs to the coil spring/radius arm type setup on an F-250 4x4? It is actually a 79 F-150 Supercab 4x4, but uses the F-250 leaf spring front end. I want to acheive a better quality ride. How much fabbing is involved?

best done with a doner truck youll need all the spring mouts track bar mounts etc plus the axle will need the castings to hold the radious armes.with no doner truck a lot of fabrication.keep in mind that coil springs are different in the fact when their compressed they will rebound past their ride height and produce kinetic energy and must be controlled also they offer no support other than up and down so all links such as radious or track bar or even 3 or 4 link must be right or the thing will be out a controll theres nothing sloppier than a worn or misaligned coil spring front end.Ive done the conversion the opposite way from coils to leafs. There are a lot of aftermarket springs out thee which yeild a decent ride also ive seen people band up there leaf springs to keep them aligned and this also wont let the spring act as it was designed.....hope this helps Marc
