Two weeks ago my wife's '01 Taurus was hit by two cars and the auto (with 25K miles) was totaled. My wife got out with alot of bruses but no major damage... the air bags and seat belt beat her up pretty good. Looks like the crumple techology works. I'll probably get her a new Taurus this week.

I always get a kick out of it when people talk about old cars that had real frames to protect you in an accident. The Taurus did what it was designed to do, which was to sacrifice itself to absorb the impact so your wife didn't have to. Good to hear that she's ok
the crumple zones work up to a point, but in a real bad crash, they just make it that much worse for us Fire Fighters to cut you out..... i've seen many full framed cars that you could open the doors on, when the uni-body's were so bad, you could hardly find the doors....
althought, i'm glad it worked for you and your wife, and she's ok
