try taking the dash apart and getting to the gauge pod, on my jeep it was a complete pod that plugged into a plug mounted on a bracket and it didn't have any clips or anything to hold the gauges in so they would seperate and the gauges would die. i don't know how ford does it but it is worth a try, or atleast push on the front of the gauges and see if you can get them to reseat.

I have a 2004 F350 DRW Diesel, I would be driveing down the road and my instament panel would die or flicker on and off. I noticed that this would happen when the temp outside was cool and the engine was at idle or low RPM. What was happening was the 6G alternator was not putting out 14 volts this would cause the relays to switch when I had a load on the electical system. Lights on or just the radio going. To test your Truck hookup a volt meter to the cigarette lighter and monitor your trucks voltage if it drops below 13.5 volts the electrical system will start up with problems. I replaced my alternator with a large housing H/D high output alternator 160W. Ran a secoundary fused hot lead from the alternator to the battery and a ground from the alternator to the neg post of the battery. I now can run the heated seats the lights the radio and the wippers all at the same time with no problem.
