I have a 93 F 350 with a 460 4x4. When shifting between low 4x4 an high 4x4 gears grind. i had to turn off the truck to engage the 4x4. is this normal?
Mine does the same thing...I don't know what causes it though... It feels like my driveline is still spinning, even with the tranny in neutral and the foot brake applied. I don't shut mine off. I probably should do that instead of just slamming it into 4x4 hi.

With an auto tranny in neutral you still have the fuild moving around inside which will cause the output shaft to turn once the trasfer case gets to neutral, that in turn can cause a slight grinding when going from low range to high or vice-versa.:-)
