I have a '92 explorer with a leaky sending unit/pump assy. My gas tank is on the floor of my garage and I cannot figure out how to remove the wires, fuel lines, or the unit itself. Advice would be tremendously appreciated!
Thank-you

Kevin,
Well I had to remove my tank and sending unit to install a noise suppressor coming from the fuel pump. The metal ring (with small metal tabs) around the unit itself is the locking ring. You need to turn that, I believe counter-clock wise to undo the unit from the tank. It has a rubber gasket underneath the ring so be careful not to damage the gasket. I had to use a large flat blade screw driver and a hammer to get mine to turn. Didn't muscle it, just worked it loose. Just reverse the order you took it out with for putting it back on. It is not fun, but it is fairly simple. The whole unit pulls out of the tank and you will see the wires and connections. Good luck !!!!!!
P.S. the suppressor was for engine noise heard in my CD player routed through the FM signal. IT DIDN'T WORK !!!!!!
