fuel pump? vapor lock?

I have a 89 bronco with a 302.. When I drive the truck on a hot day and a couple hundred miles non stop The thing will start missing and die. It acts like its running out of gas, I can let it sit for a hour or so and then it will start and run no problem. It sounds like vapor lock to me but I didnt thing efi could vapor lock since its constant pressure. Am I missing somthing? Also how do I tell if my in tank fuel pump is working without having to pull the tank out? Thanks Dan

I didn't think efi vapor locked either, but I could be wrong. When a fuel pump goes bad, usually it will run fine at idle, but the engine will cut out at higher speeds/loads/rpms, as the pump is unable to keep up the pressure that the engine needs. Your problem sounds similar, but it would do this all the time, no matter the temp or miles. So sounds like your pump might be fine, try changing your fuel filter if you haven't, it's only 5 bucks, and maybe someone else can help you here, I'm not good with intermittent problems.

Good Luck.
