light scratch fixes

I have a couple of light scrathces I would like to repair. I have heard many theories on how to go about doing this, ranging from using sandpaper to simply buffing with wax. Do I need to use touch up paint? Do I need to sand? What are the different types of cutter/polisher/waxes/etc?

Would someone give me a good set of instructions for repairing light to moderate scratch fixes? These scratches are not very deep if that helps.

TurtleWax includes a "ChipStik" with their colored polish. I've used it a few times on light scratches (black Explorer) and it's worked well, but you didn't say what color your ride is.

If they are light scratches use rubbing compound. I like 3M. After compounding the area, cover it with wax.

The way i do it is use a fine foam pad at medium speed and first use 3m super duty compound then 3m micropolish compound, then hand glaze 3m Perfect Glaze, then wax with meguiers gold class wax, and between each step I use a 3m detailers rag to get rid of any residue and after waxing.
