guys im new here i need ur help i own a 1980 mustang with 200 engine but im planing to swap it with a 1995 300 CID EFI from a F150. im planning to use it for street and strip how can i make that engine better. Im here in the philippines the drag racing here is dominated by japanese cars i wanted to respect american cars pls help me here thanks
If this swap is even possible I would not do it, even if the 300 is available to you for free it would probably still be cheaper to locate a 302 and certainly a lot easier to swap it in, in order to make a 300 work you would most likely have to do a lot of expensive customizing. The 302 is a much better engine as far as in a Mustang is concerned and will give you much better street/strip performance. The 300 is a truck motor with no high end.
I second that get a 5.0 out of a late model mustang if you want EFI or a 351 out of a truck and do some work to one of those. That would be the smarter thing to do if you want to lay the smack down.
I also agree. The 300 is too heavy and will place the weight too far forward and not give you much benefit. The Mustang is a light car, and it needs Horsepower to go fast, not Torque. The 300 is a sick torque beast to be sure but it won't rev too high, and even worked up, it won't make the Horsepower of the V8s, because they can rev more. Save the 300 for the tow truck, where it's mountain of torque will do the most good.
I have no choice i own a 200 and the 300 is better right? Here its difficult to find a 302 or even a 351w, the only engines available here are 289 and 351 cleaveland. and its not even an efi. If the 300 is heavy cant i use a v8 suspension? could it be possible to rebore the 300 to fit a 302 piston and valves, change the mass air meter,tb and add a supercharger? another qouestion could i use a 250 crossflow head for the 300? guys whats the maximum HP and torque of a 300? please guys help me on my project.

To try to answer, in my opinion:
300 is better than the 200 in a heavy, slow vehicle.
289 will rev to 5000 easy in poor condition. In good condition with correct valve springs, it will go 7000. In go-nuts custom parts and lots of money condition, I have heard of them going 10,000! (I've heard of guys running them to 8500 without all the good parts, but that sounds risky)
The 300 will rev to 5000, but makes mostly noise at that speed, as peak power is approx. 3200.
The 300 weighs more than the 302, so the V8 suspension will be maxed out.
The bore of the 300 and 302 is the same at 4 inches.
Valves are probably not interchangeable, but even if they are, the V8 has 16, the 300 only 12.
250 head will not fit 300.
As for supercharging and throttle bodies etc etc, you would be better off putting the money and effort into a 289 if you are going racing.
Also, you mention a 351 cleveland. Again, for less money than working with the 300, the 351 C will make more power.
So, the best action might be to clean up the 300 and sell it to someone with a delivery truck, and find either a 351C or 289.
Yes, actualy they will fit. A MAF Mustang GT setup will work. However, if you have access to a crossflow head, whynot a crossflow 250? www.fordsix.com has alot of tech on these, as well as the Australian version, complete with EFI. I would go there and check it out. They are my second favorite site, right behind FTE.
