i have 2003 f 250 lariat and have had nothing but problems with 6.0 since around 500 miles. dealer has replaced injectors, reflashed multiple times, to no avail, i still have the rolling idle, get about 8-10 mpg doing it with math not the computer, engine smokes so bad and the exhaust is so smelly that i cannot have my windows down ever, must always use ac on recirculate or the truck fills up with fumes, the dealer has had my truck nearly 30 days since new and I'm about ready to file for the lemon law but i'm wondering if a new one would be any better, i have 48,000 miles on it and i depend on my truck to run my business, any opinions would be appreciated

RUN to file the lemon law - or at least discuss with your dealer what they can do to help you iwht a replacment....
you more than exceed the lemon law minimums...
And I'll almost gaurantee you won't get a bad one....
there are not that many bad ones out there...
at diesel dyno day we had MANY and NONE complained of any problems...
all talk was about what can I do to make it faster/stronger/fly higher than a speeding bullet
I had a real similiar problem with my 03 PSD 6.0. I had the injectors replaced and what have you. I was at wits end, when I took it to a different dealer and a mechanic determined my fuel injection module, a $1,100 part and 3-4 hour labor (Good thing I have lots of warranty) was the culprit. Since then, 2200 Miles, The truck runs like a top!! I have returned to 20-21 miles on the highway and the smells have gone buh bye! Look into this, it may be the issue too!
Normally 18mpgs daily driving.

I don't think that 20 to 21 MPG would be totally out of the ballpark for someone driving conservatively on flat ground with no wind. Especially if it is a single passenger in regular cab and not a crew cab.
Much more than 22 or 23 MPG would start sounding rather suspicious to me for a regular average round trip mileage. I routinely see 32 to 34 MPG for a particular trip segment where I'm coming back down hill from Ramona. If I average the return trip mileage though it is of course much lower. You've got to be fair.
no 6-ohs get 20 to 21 mpg !
While I put NO importance on fuel mileage for my X and I LIKE my X - think it's the best travelling vehicle EVER ... 16 to 17 mpg around town is max... 18 to 19 mpg on LONG highway runs is about it.... and that's GREAT for an 8k+ lb brick.... (I will do my best to watch it this weekend when we go to Memphis and let you know, but it just is NOT high on my priority list)
1) If you are reading the overhead or "your friend" is trusting the overhead - start your statistical analysis over - 21 mpg in our heavy sleds ain't gonna happen! Not on a tank or two of gas unless you find a VERY long downhill...
2) On certain sections around here I can get 99.9 mpg on the overhead because it is already downhill and I reset just at the start of the downhill..
3) If you're doing the mpg the old fashioned (correct) way... I suggested the tank is not filling to the same point each time... unless you harpoon the tank, you cannot fill it to the same level with any consistency. the vent hose is too low into the tank and the different amount of foaming will stop the fill at different levels...
4) I challenge ANY of you to drive these beast so moderatly that you can get that type of mileage without "fudging" by resetting for optimal mileage, etc... they are too fun to drive
5) heck just one start from a stop light will have an average of about 2 mpg !!!

It is my belief that not one person in PA can draw a straight line......
....just kidding of course.
