options for pickup beds

now don't shoot the messenger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've heard (now this may be wrong) that you can use the pickup beds of a C***y as a replacement for the one on my 47 ford - can anyone confirm or deny

You can use one off a Studebaker too, if you want to slice and dice. This isn't rocket science!!!

Bootie, I have seen a Chevy bed on one of these trucks, just doesn't look right. Back when these trucks were workhorses an parts that could be made to fit were substituted, the other day I saw an early '50's International pickup with a mid 50's Chevy bed. Since you are searching, remember that '42-'mid 50 is the nearly same bed (minor differences). Not sure what the parts selection is like in NZ, but you might find some.

few and far between for anything - wading through head high gorse on farm paddocks to find rusted heaps with nothing thats salvagable is a bit depressing

How's your carpentry skills?

You could make your box out of wood until you find something that works for you.

thats always a thought - need to get closer to that step though - just finished sandblasting the chassis

I hear you guys down there have some nice grains of wood. Wouldn't be the first time someone made one out of wood. Probably even put that F O R D script in with a router on the tailgate.

definitly thought about making the deck from one of our native woods - maybe kauri, rimu, macrocarpa- my partners dad is building tutor and thats the kind of stuff he likes to do - even thought about some carving into the deck - but that satrts getting harder
