I read the following reply (elsewhere on the web) to a similar question regarding the '97 heater core removal:
Sorry, there is NO fast way to replace the heater core. The steering wheel has to be lowered and the entire dash needs to be taken apart. About an 8 hour job. Recommend getting a Haynes or Chilton's book for the vehicle.
Hi MOSAR and welcome to the forum
Like Wm said, there is no easy way.
If you snoop around in here you'll find some info from others that have done the job.
I happened upon this post from a couple years back (both links are current).
Cheers, Wm.
Well I replaced the heatercore. It was a very Long Day but I am happy I did it. I went to a Ford Dealership and they were kind enough to print the dash removal instructions for me. It helped alot. I have uploaded the document to my web page athttp://www.thepc-medic.com/Links.htm. You will need to have a program called efax Messenger to view it, which you can get free athttp://www.efax.com/en/efax/twa/page/downloadI hope someone finds it helpful.
