Avoid armor-all it is junk, I have found it is like cooking oil for the dash, use Mothers brand it is the best. And Mothers stays wet looking longest too.
I think that it's just personal opinion. I had a Black Nissan Maxima a few years back with black leather interior and used armor all every couple weeks on the leather dash and entire interior. That was when I lived in central Texas, never had a problem. I have heard the same thing too. You can't always believe what you hear. Until you find someone with some first-hand experience or someone who can show you what it did to their dash, then use what ya got and then buy somehting else. No use wasting it.
It looks good for a little while... My borther in-law works at a tire store and he has seen many sets of "not too old" tires all weather checked. Most of the time the people can't understand because as they tell him "I always use Armor all" ??
Have heard from MULTIPLE sources that armor all is probably the worst thing you can do to your dash....
dries out and pulls all the moisture out of it....
I've used Armor All on previous vehicles, with no effects. Last truck had Armor All on it as soon as I got it home from the dealer, and the dash & plastic surfaces were still like new 3 years later when I traded it in.
On my current truck, I use 303 Aerospace Protectorant, which some of my Jeep buddies turned me on to (keeps their vinyl softtops looking new). It has some serious UV protection, and it seems to repel dust, opposed to AA, which dust would stick to. The shine isin't as 'blingy' as AA, but it's a deep, rich shine which seems to last a lot longer. Only drawback is a god awful armpit smell it has to it. .it fades after a few hours though.
I agree that the original armor all is not a good choice for leather but have used it for years on tires and "black plastic" parts on various cars and trucks with no problems. I just bought some armor all leather wipes and it seems to do a nice job on the lariats interior and does not make the seats slick as snot.
I have heard all the horror stories but have never seen actual problems people talk about. In todays litigation mentality, if there was a problem, all it would take is some one to document it and take them to court. Armor all wouldnt stand a chance if a $5 product damaged a $40k SD or even a BMW or Mercedes.
