I bought my 2003 F250 SD 6.0L PSD XLT SC 5 Speed Torqushift 3.73 LS diff on year ago tomorrow. 20,000 miles and going strong.

It occurred to me that with all the other **** retentive things I do, I have never checked the air filter. The air filter minder has never moved. Not so I would have noticed. I removed the air filter element. I set it intake side down and tapped it not so gently on the garage floor. Lots of stuff came out of there. Gritty stuff almost the consistency of sand, feathers (didn't see a beak), seeds, dirt and assorted insect parts. Could have added water and sold it as witches brew. I took my shop-vac with 3.5 horse motor (Tim Allen model) and vacuumed the intake side. I put it back together. I think I will go buy new filter on Monday.

What's the best price anyone has seen for the stock filter and where?

Ford dealer is the only place I've seen 'em.
The main reason I run the K&N FIPK is that I clean and reoil it every 10,000 miles.

I bought my truck exactly one year ago on Aug. 8th. She already has over 36K miles in it. I got it with about 16 miles. (Yes, I do drive A LOT ) My only problem now is that she doesn't want to start when the engine is hot. She will crank for about 30 seconds or more, but she would not start. Once it sits for awhile, she'll fire right up. It's a wired problem, I'm having Ford look into it Thursday. Some say its an Injector, others say that its the fuel filter, etc. I'm just worried that someday she won't start at all

Comming up to 25,000 on mine and the filter minder exploded which made the idiot light come on for the first time. I went to the dealer to get a new air filter [$72.00]and a new minder unit[ $12.00] The new Minder is different than the old one, which makes me wonder if there was a problem with these things falling apart. Anyone got any buzz on that issue?

Thanks Tim, funny what you can remember as you get older, and what you can forget.

I just hope he saw it.

NAPA carries the filter for the PSD 6.0L I stock at my store. I always stock PSD filters in my store since I own a PSD. When I get to work in the morning I will post a price for y'all................

It was one year ago yesterday that I bought my 03 Excursion Lmtd 6.0. 3 days later I broke my hip so couldn't drive it for the first 2 months but it gave me something to read up on and be excited about as I lay in bed for weeks on end. Mine had 15k troublesome miles on it when it went back to DSB buyback heaven a couple of months ago so my story didn't end up as good as yours, SBV45. Good to hear your's is going strong.

Thanks Jeb, sounds like if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any at all.

Doesn't surprise me. Those little things must cost 8 cents, and there are lots of posts about broken ones. The dealer let me overnight test a truck with a broken unit! So, yours really exploded? Wow.
