There haven't been any posts here in over a year. I am now trying to install the factory DVD player in my 2004 F-150 and would like to know if the harness was ever completed. Does anyone have this information?
look you really don't have to be a super dad you know... tell you what i bought my son with a portable dvd player and plug ins to the cigarret outlet... hang the screen up on the back of passenger seat and wala......his quiet...you can also buy the ones that have 2 screens if you like and best of all their cheaper.....your wallet will be happy....and of course you kids.....sometimes to make our kids happy is to show the how smart the parents... just a thought,, but then ofcourse if you are a high roller...well that will be your choice... hope this help...
Last year I found a DVD player that fits the rail system on line. It has a 7" screen and uses FM signal to use the factory radio and speakers. I also got a couple pairs of wireless headsets. If the kids use the headsets I can still listen to the radio. The setup works great. I did'nt need an aftermarket harness, I ran a power wire through the rail, under the head liner, down the drivers side window piller, to the fuse box. The DVD player comes in matching colors for any of the F-150 interiors. When I get home I'll post the website here. If you don't want to install yourself, buy one and have your local sound shop install it for you. That's what a budy of mine did. He paid under 800.00 for the DVD player, instalation, and 3 wireless headsets.
Check out the ADM190 it's the last one on the web page. 9" screen and fits the rail system in our trucks. I have had one installed for 2 years. works great.
Sir, where can you get empty overhead rail sytem bins?

so I will keep you posted when the harness is available.
and yes the factory dvd is much more integrated with the radio than any aftermarket DVD. (and is covered under warranty)
thanks for the interest
BTW, we installed the harness in my personal 04 truck and documented it with pictures and instructions to go with the harness. it takes about 2 hrs to do. not hard, just nerv racking having your $35K truck in parts and pieces for awhile. looked good as new when done though,
