Unhappy frozen distributor on 78 302

i am restoring a 1978 F150 with a 302 in it the engine runs . but has a bad hesitation off the line. when i put a timing light on it it is 16 degrees advanced. but the distributor is frozen to the block . having sat for 7 years. is there a trick to making it release? or do i just go for it and if i break it i replace it?
