Hey guys I have an issue in my van. It's a 1992 with a 351w and the dizzy has welded itself to the intake.. How can I get it to losen up without damaging either part?
I know I have bad luck, but yours must be worse than mine. I have never heard of a distributor welding itself to the intake. I feel your pain. I wish I knew how to help. Just how bad did it weld itself anyway? Maybe the answer can help somebody tell you if the dizzy is worth salvaging or what.
It can be turned. But not very far, it requires a huge pair of channel lock pliers. It's not fun when you're trying to set the timing and keep missing the mark by about 5 degrees, I'd like to put a new timing set in the beast and bump the timing up to about 13 degrees. But of I can't get the dizzy to unlock itself it will be pointless.
I would spray pb baster were it goes though the block , I have ran into this
in the past I take a rubber handle hammer and let the end touch the intake
and the mid handle under (dist) body and pry lightly. You can turn the engine a
small amount at a time with a breaker bar.
P.S. have you tryed it with the engine hot, it may make a differents!
