1979 6,300 carbureation and choke

I recently rebuilt carb and i got the truck running fairly decent but sometimes it dies....i am almost postive its the carb...Is it worth replaceing climatic choke fore a manual choke from JCwhitteny for ten bucks just to bipass this project of adjusting the choke.....I cant seem to fix the choke and it has taken alot of my time.
