Yes you could probably put the choke on from the other carb but if was me I would put in the manual conversion.

i drove my 85 single barrel bronco with no choke on it as my daily driver for 5-6years. When i wanted to start it, any temp, just push the pedal to the floor, let off, then crank it. fires right up , high idles. Once its up to temp i just tap the gas and it goes back to normal idle. Dont know if my truck is a fluke or not

Well you're going to have drill the rivets out so you can get it apart to fix it anyway, so go ahead.
Don't kluge it up with a manual choke, get the correct $15 part and fix it correctly.
And I hate to tell the guy that has a functioning high idle and whose vehicle starts without trouble in any weather, but you must have had a choke or you wouldn't have had high idle.

mine had the factory choke on it that didnt work, wasnt even plugged in, i switched it out for a manual choke, which only made matters worse. took it off and ran it with nothing on the back and it started as mentioned above. drove it for a bit like that and put the factory one back on unhooked and it behaves the same. i can crank it all day long and it will never start, but if i push the pedal to the floor, then crank it, it fires up right away and idles at about 1500 until i tap the gas then it idles normal at about 750. Dont know why.

now it starts with butterfly wide open if I step on pedel and turn key
I think I will fix like n9lhm says it will only get colder up here in wi
